Back to school time is here! At this time of year, the staff and eye doctor at Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian encourage parents of the community to bring in their children for an annual eye exam. Eye care is critical for success in school. Taking your child to the eye doctor for regular exams is important for catching vision problems and eye diseases, and in some cases, wearing corrective lenses can even help correct behavior problems!

Without the ability to see clearly, learning to read becomes impossible or nearly impossible. Many children who have vision problems struggle to see letters or keep their eyes moving fluidly across the page. Tracking problems and vision problems can contribute to a child's anxiety around school work, which can make completing school work properly almost impossible.
Without the ability to do the work, some children may develop behavior problems. Knowing that school work is hard and their grades are not as good as many other students, some children become hyper or act out in anger. In fact, vision problems can even lead to a misdiagnosis of ADHD or ADD.
Most children will not tell their parents that their vision is unclear. In fact, many children can't even tell when something is wrong! The only way to know for sure if your young child is unable to see properly is to bring him or her in to the eye doctor. At Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian, we help pediatric patients get the proper diagnosis from an early age, so they can have a fresh start in school.
Now is the time to take your child to the eye doctor for an annual eye exam. To make an appointment, contact your child's eye doctor at Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian. Our courteous and professional staff will be happy to help you.
